Alban Pre-School has been a family run nursery for over 18 wonderfull years. The rooms are rented from the church committee on a completely independent basis, and celebrates many festivals which the children attend and are familiar with. We have a highly qualified team, which range from BA hons degree in Early Childhood Studies, to foundation degree students and level 3 students in childcare.
Recent changes in our observational methods has seen the move to an online journal called Tapestry, where parents/carers are able to access their child's learning on a daily basis, make comments and even upload their own observations. This is all in aid to enhance the partnerships of parents/ carers with Alban pre-school, so that we can provide the best learning for the children. Placing children at the heart of our Pre-School.
We have a large gated garden at the rear of the building, where we are able to take in experiences from the inside out. A large wooden house with an upstairs and a castle where the children have the opportunity to take a look at the garden and to experience things from a higher perspective
We have forestry area at the top of the garden, where children are encouraged to participate in a variety of different ways, such as making insect houses, planting a variety of vegetables and flowers. Using real tools they are supervised but are still encouraged to take manageable risks in order to enhance their learning
We hold a full traditional Christmas navivtiy held in the church. Giving the opptunity for your child to shine on the big stage. We also have a yearly school outing to Paradise Wildlife Park, where we invite parents/carers to come along to enjoy the day.
We ask Parenst/carers for a small donation of fruit or vegterables so that we can provide children with the much needed balanced diet of five a day, we provide milk and water at snacktimes. Children are encouraged to cut their own fruit/veg to promote independence but with supervision.
Packed lunches are stored in a frige, however if you provide a hot meal in a suitable container we have storge facilities as well. Unfortunately due to our policy and procedures we are NOT able to reheat the childrens lunch.
Sports day is held in the summer term where children of all ages participate in their age approrite race/challenge.
However we do throw in a few surprises with our parents/carer race (parents/carers beware)
