Sharon Dwyer

Co Manager & Proprietor

Designated Safeguarding and Child Protection Officer

I have over 30 years experience working in childcare. I hold a BA Hons Degree in Early Childhood Studies, as well as an NNEB certificate and certificates in Makaton, Early Talk Boost and Small Circles. I am the nursery SENCO and have training and experience working with children with Autism and Asperger’s Syndrome. I strive to use my training daily to support the children in my care. I enjoy seeing children achieving their full potential, learning new skills and building new friendships. I love working with children and I am passionate about supporting children with additional needs. No day is the same and I love coming to work.

I have enjoyed working at Alban Pre-School for over 10 years, becoming the Manager and Proprietor in 2019, and where I am currently the Co-Manager with my colleague Valmira. I am the nursery Designated Safeguarding and Child Protection Officer.

I hold a CACHE Level 3 in Early Years, I have over 6 years experience working as an Early Years Practitioner. I am a nursery Designated Safeguarding and Child Protection Lead. I have experience working with chlidren who have Autism. I am qualified for Paediatric first aid. After 5 years working at Alban Pre-School, I took one year to improve my skills and knowledge in a different role. I have come back believing that children are powerful learners driven by curiosity and interest. As an educator, I challenge myself on a daily basis to respond to the individual development and learning needs of the children engaging them through activities, meaningful expereinces and purposeful play.

I am currently studying for my Level 5 Early Years Foundation Degree. This is my third year here at Alban Pre-School. Outside of Alban, I have achieved my lifeguarding qualification where I teach young children how to swim. I have also acquired my Paediatric first aid certificate. I have always enjoyed being able to help younger children and I wish to continue this here at Alban Pre-School where I have learnt the importance of children's development during these early years.
